Survey of Ancient Egypt This course offers a survey of the social and political history of ancient Egypt from the Neolithic period up to the conquest of Alexander the Great (7000-332 BC). Topics include: political and historical development, geography, ethnologies, social institutions, role of women, religion, language and writing. The class will also consider early Egyptian contacts with Greek civilization and the issue of legacy to the western world and to Africa.
